FeedParity

Catch Shopify ↔ Google Merchant Center drift before it costs you sales

FeedParity is a read-only monitoring service for Shopify merchants. It compares your Shopify product catalogue with Google Merchant Center to detect missing products, price and availability mismatches, stale or ghost products, and identifier or variant inconsistencies. FeedParity uses Google Merchant Center access only to read catalogue data for this comparison. It does not edit your Shopify products, Merchant Center catalogue, feeds, or Google Ads.

Your Shopify catalogue and the version Google actually sees drift apart quietly. A price changes but the update never lands. A product goes out of stock and stays advertised. An item disappears from Merchant Center entirely. Nothing breaks loudly — you just stop selling something and never find out why.

We don’t manage your feed. We verify it.

One complete scan free, with every finding shown in full. No card required to run it.

Two systems, one catalogue, no referee

Shopify is the truth about your products. Merchant Center is what Google is willing to show shoppers. Whatever moves data between them — an app, a feed, a sync — is the same thing reporting on its own work. FeedParity reads both sides independently and tells you where they disagree.

How FeedParity compares the two catalogues FeedParity reads the Shopify catalogue and the Google Merchant Center catalogue independently, compares them, and reports the differences. It writes to neither system. Shopify catalogue products, variants, prices, availability, identifiers read only FeedParity normalise both sides match by identifier report every difference writes to neither system read only Merchant Center what Google will actually show to shoppers
FeedParity sits beside the pipeline, not inside it. It never becomes another thing that can break your feed.

Google Merchant Center says

TitleMerino Crew — Slate
Price$109.00

Three findings on one product. Shoppers are being shown a $109 price for an $89 item, the listing is suppressed as out of stock while you have inventory, and a missing GTIN weakens the listing. Illustrative example.

What every scan checks

Each finding names the product, shows the value each system reported, and records when the difference was first seen and whether it is still open.

Missing from Google A product is live in Shopify but Merchant Center has no listing for it, so it cannot be shown at all.
Price mismatch The price Google would show a shopper is not the price Shopify would charge them at checkout.
Availability mismatch In stock in Shopify but out of stock in Merchant Center, or the reverse.
Ghost products A listing still present in Merchant Center for something no longer sold in Shopify.
Stale data The Merchant Center record has not been refreshed and is describing a state you have moved on from.
Identifier drift GTIN, MPN or brand differ between the two systems, or have gone missing on one side.
Variant inconsistencies Sizes or colours present in Shopify that are absent or misdescribed in Merchant Center.
Merchant Center review issues Problems Google itself reports about a listing. Kept clearly separate from Shopify-versus-Google drift, because they are a different kind of problem.
“We could not verify” is never reported as “we verified a mismatch”. If a catalogue cannot be read — an outage, an expired authorisation — nothing is reported as drift and no existing finding is silently marked fixed. On a monitored store you are told that verification itself stopped working.

Deliberately narrow

FeedParity is a second opinion, and a second opinion is only worth having if it is independent. It has no ability to change anything it reports on.

What it does

  • Reads your Shopify product catalogue
  • Reads your Google Merchant Center catalogue
  • Compares them and reports every difference
  • Keeps a history of when each difference appeared and was fixed
  • Emails you when something new goes wrong, if you enable alerts
  • Tells you when verification itself fails, instead of going quiet

What it does not do

  • Edit, create or delete Shopify products
  • Modify your Google Merchant Center catalogue data
  • Build, submit or manage product feeds
  • Touch Google Ads — no campaigns, no spend, no bidding
  • Read customers, orders, carts or payment data
  • Sell your data, or use your catalogue to train models

Why FeedParity asks for Google access

FeedParity requests access to Google Merchant Center catalogue data solely to compare it against the merchant’s connected Shopify catalogue and report discrepancies. That is the entire purpose of the request, and the data is used for nothing else.

When you connect Google, FeedParity asks for exactly one permission:

https://www.googleapis.com/auth/content

This is the only permission Google publishes for Merchant Center access, and Google does not offer a read-only variant of it. We would request a read-only scope if one existed. Since one does not, we are explicit about the difference between what the permission technically allows and what our software actually does: FeedParity uses this permission only for its read-only verification workflow, and the implementation does not modify Merchant Center catalogue data.

Concretely: every call our software makes against your Merchant Center catalogue is a read. There is no code path that creates, edits or deletes a product, a listing or a feed. You can disconnect Google at any time from the Connections page, and the stored authorisation is deleted and revoked with Google.

FeedParity’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The privacy policy sets out exactly what is read, why, how it is stored, and how to have it deleted.
